Audium Theater of Sound, San Francisco
5PM, All Ages
$100 for Four
The new Audium Sound Hour offers San Francisco a curated immersive sound environment to promote calm and wellness as the city recovers from the pandemic. Experience field recordings and electronic sounds that will take audiences on a journey from the streets of San Francisco to a place inside themselves. The historic sound theater is keeping everyone safe with an updated HVAC system, small-group venue bookings only, and full sanitization of the venue between groups.
Audium's pitch-black, 176-speaker space has been upgraded, allowing for crisper and more immersive sound movement than ever before. Listeners will be immersed in sound scenes that jump off the walls. Spring from the loud clatter of the Tenderloin to a remote Baker Beach cave. A familiar afternoon in the Sunset District gives way to an ecstatic celebration in the Mission.
Sound Hour's composer Dave Shaff explains: "The silver lining of the pandemic was being able to dig into Audium's technology and reimagine its experience. The Sound Hour was designed in tandem with system upgrades. Audiences will hear birds flitter above, while children laugh and play below. Electronic melodies bump up against each other and burst."
Audium is the only theater of its kind in the world, pioneering the exploration of space in music for over 45 years. From entrance to exit, Audium Sound Hour will massage your senses. Leave the worries of the workday behind and enjoy an intimate sound experience with friends and family

"The incredibly preserved art, furnishings and eatables of Pompeii give us the rare opportunity to explore the Romans' infatuation with food and wine-which is analogous to our own enjoyment of the activity today," states Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. "I am thrilled to bring Last Supper in Pompeii from the Bay of Naples to the San Francisco Bay Area, which will be the first in a series of upcoming exhibitions examining life in the ancient Mediterranean."

Eleanor Harwood Gallery is thrilled to present The Space We Take, the gallery's seventh solo show with Paul Wackers, marking 15 years of working together. The body of work in The Space We Take was painted during the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020/2021 in its American epicenter, New York City. In his new works Wackers' long-term inquiry into imaginative domestic tableaus, the tradition of still life painting and the creation of a personal visual lexicon takes on new meaning when set against the backdrop of social isolation and stay at home orders.
