The 20th San Francisco Documentary Film Festival (SF DocFest) will be held June 3 - 20, 2021. SF DocFest will screen 40 features and 38 shorts across 6 different short programs. All films will be available to view on demand anytime during the festival, and 36 of the films will also be shown at the Roxie Theater. The majority of the in-person screenings held at the Roxie Theater will also include live Q&A sessions.
100% of ticket sales from the festival's live screenings benefit The Roxie!
"Docfest offers a zippy blend of politics, music, social issues and youth-oriented subcultures. The good news is that DocFest promotes documentaries as a vibrant, irreverent form of entertainment to a younger demographic, blasting the notion of educational films to smithereens. There's no room for anything approximating -- watch it, I'm about to blaspheme - the obsessively measured and utterly somnambulant musings of Ken Burns." - Michael Fox, KQED
"We're looking forward to finally getting arts and arts fans in the same room again," says Festival Director Jeff Ross. Additionally, Ross adds that "in support and celebration of the Roxie Theater reopening this year, we are donating 100% of ticket sales from our live screenings back to the theater."
For those who are unable to attend in person, the festival may also be attended virtually through on-demand screenings and online Q&A sessions.
The full festival program may be found at https://sfindie.com/ .

Saturday June 5th 2021 at 11pm
THE ROOM is an electrifying black comedy about love, passion, betrayal, and lies, starring "The Disaster Artist" himself, writer/director Tommy Wiseau. He plays a successful banker with a great respect for--and dedication to the people in his life, especially his best friend Mark (Greg Sestero) and future wife Lisa (Juliette Danielle). As the film depicts friendships and relationships in the lives of its five major characters, it raises life's real and most-asked question: "Can you really trust anyone?"
