Happy Friday Everyone! You've worked hard all week, and now it's time to have fun! Getting out and enjoying the beautiful Bay Area, as well as enjoying the company of friends old and new, is great for your mental health. So check out some of our favorite events from around the Bay that you can attend this weekend!

Friday, June 21st

 

Circus Bella Performers

Yerba Buena Gardens, San Francisco

Circus Bella is a true Bay Area institution, and Yerba Buena Gardens Festival is the company’s home base. Returning with a brand-new outdoor show for its triumphant 15th season, the company features an array of the brightest circus talents from the Bay Area and beyond, delighting and amazing audiences of all ages with circus arts at its most exuberant.


Marked by a playful spirit and inspired imagination, Circus Bella offers a modern twist on the one-ring circus, overflowing with heart and soul. The 60-minute performance, directed by Circus Bella founder and trapeze artist Abigail Munn, features the amazing Circus Bella company – a diverse and talented troupe of acrobats, aerialists, jugglers and clowns – performing to the live original music of accordionist Rob Reich and the outstanding six-piece Circus Bella All-Star Band.


 

Friday Nights at OMCA

Reconnect with family, friends, and community during Friday Nights at OMCA. These free events provide a gathering place each week, including live music, hands-on activities, Off the Grid (OTG) food trucks, and late-night access to our galleries and special exhibitions with a Museum ticket. Limited flat rate parking for Friday Nights is available in the OMCA Garage for $10.


Friday Nights at OMCA are back and ready to kick off the season in style on April 5, 2024.


Gather with family, friends, and community every Friday at 5 pm for free live music and hands-on activities, Off the Grid food trucks, and late night access to our galleries and special exhibitions, with a Museum ticket.


Bring your own or grab dinner from any one of the 8 Off the Grid food trucks on 10th Street between Oak and Fallon Streets. Beer, wine, mixed and non-alcoholic drinks are available for sale. After grabbing a meal from a wide and weekly changing menu of culinary creations, head to the OMCA Garden where you’ll find picnic tables and blankets to enjoy your local eats. Play lawn and table games, enjoy weekly rotating Museum programming, and create new memories at one of the Town’s most treasured spaces right in the heart of Oakland.

Frameline48 Film Festival

Founded in 1977, the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival is the longest-running, largest, and most widely recognized queer film exhibition event in the world. As a community event with an annual attendance of more than 63,000 (89,000 virtual attendance in 2020), the Festival is the most prominent and well-attended LGBTQ+ arts program in the Bay Area. In 2021, Frameline’s Festival was named by MovieMaker one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World. In 2023, Frameline was ranked #8 in USA Today’s Readers Choice poll of the 10 Best Film Festivals in the US. Frameline is a BAFTA Qualifying Festival.


Frameline48: the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival will return to the Bay Area June 19-29, 2024 with its signature showcase of the world’s leading queer cinema. Frameline unites diverse communities for 11 days of innovative and socially relevant content. Discover emerging talents and embrace an unparalleled community of festival-goers at the world’s largest celebration of queer media. The Festival pays tribute to LGBTQ+ experiences through pioneering documentaries, gripping features, delightful shorts, cinematic classics, engaging episodics, and more.


Each year, Frameline hosts 400 official Festival Guests, including directors, producers, actors, programmers, distributors, and buyers that range from small, independent entities to studios such as A24, Neon, Strand Releasing, Wolfe Video, The Film Collaborative, TLA Releasing, HBO, Showtime, and Warner Bros. The Festival is one of the largest annual business meeting places for theatrical and educational film and video buyers in Northern California.


 

Copa America at Levi's Stadium

The CONMEBOL Copa América (America Cup, known until 1975 as the South American Football Championship[1]) is the top men's football tournament contested among national teams from South America. It is the oldest still-running continental football competition, as well as the third most watched in the world. The competition determines the champions of South America. Since the 1990s, teams from North America have also been invited to compete.


Eight of the ten CONMEBOL national teams have won the tournament at least once in its 47 stagings since the event's inauguration in 1916, with Ecuador and Venezuela the only teams yet to win. Watch them play in Group B at Levi's Stadium on Saturday!

Tegan and Sara

Twin sisters born in Canada, Tegan and Sara have sold more than one million albums, and have received seven Gold certifications, one Double Platinum certification, three Juno Awards, two Polaris Prize nominations, and a Grammy nomination. They have performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, from the 2015 Oscar Telecast to major festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury. In addition to music, they are executive producers of the TV series, High School, based on their New York Times–bestselling adult memoir of the same name. They are also the authors of the Junior High graphic novel series for young readers, which is illustrated by Eisner Award–winner Tillie Walden. In 2016, they created the Tegan and Sara Foundation, which fights for health, economic justice, and representation for LGBTQ+ people.

Cheaper Than Therapy offers a healthy dose of live stand-up comedy every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, year-round. Located in San Francisco's historic Shelton Theater in the heart of Union Square, Cheaper Than Therapy is convenient to get to, whether you live in the Bay Area or are just visiting.

About the show


Each show features five to six hand-picked, experienced comedians and an occasional guest drop-in.


Please arrive at the theater by 7:45pm to check in with the box office. The bar opens at 7pm, and the show starts at 8pm. Last seating is at 8:20pm.


The theater has a full bar with no drink minimum. Come early for craft drinks and great seats!

Is there an age requirement?

The show is for mature audience members of 18+ only.

Is there a drink minimum?

No, there is no drink minimum.

What if I'm late?

This is a live show, and we want everyone to have a great time. As a courtesy to the performers and audience, we will not seat those who arrive after 8:20pm. If you are unable to make it by this time, please let us know. We would be happy to transfer your tickets to a future date.

Is there parking available?

There is no parking at the theater, but there are many public parking garages close by. See your options on Parkopedia.

If the event is sold out, will you have tickets at the door?

We often sell out, so please buy your tickets in advance. If the event is sold out online, we will not have any extra tickets to sell at the door. In that case, please get tickets to the next show!

If I can't make it to the show anymore, will the fees be refunded?

Unfortunately, Eventbrite does not refund any fees, so only the base ticket price is refunded. However, we're happy to transfer your tickets to a future show of your choice instead. Just email us at info@cttcomedy.com let us know that you can no longer make it and want to transfer your tickets. Once you've decided on a date that works better for you, email us again at least 48 hours in advance of the show, and we'll confirm your tickets.
