Friday, April 15th

Free
Like a mini Hardly Strictly Bluegrass taking over an entire neighborhood, Pickin’ on the Polk is a brand new free Districtwide Bluegrass Show in the Discover Polk Community Benefit District – April 15-16, 2022.
The festival will temporarily transform Polk Street into a free, two-day bluegrass festival featuring renowned artists playing throughout the neighborhood.

Get ready for a new family-friendly bluegrass festival throughout the Discover Polkneighborhood, encompassing Polk Street between California and Broadway. Pickin’ on the Polk will kick off on the 15th of April and run through the 16th.
Friday Highlights Pickin’ on the Polk will commence at 7pm on Friday, April 15th with multiple shows inside local restaurants, bars, and cafes in the Discover Polk district.
Saturday Highlights On Saturday, April 16th the outdoor “Bandwagon Stage” will begin at 1pm and end at 6pm featuring seven different acts.
A temporary street closure will take place on Polk Street between Pacific and Broadway. Pickin’ on the Polk brings an array of local bands including the Rowan Brothers, Rainbow Girls, the Familiar Strangers and many more. Bird School of Music’s youth band will also grace the stage.
Saturday evening continues with more bands “taking over” the local watering holes.

Re-emerging for its 12th season, Off the Grid: Fort Mason Center is the Bay Area’s most beloved and anticipated community event, as well as the largest recurring nighttime street food festival in Northern California. After a challenging couple of years, we’re ready to reignite the San Francisco food scene with our flagship marketplace in full style. This year’s event will highlight both creators and guests through a more dynamic way to experience this one-of-a-kind destination. Together, we can throw a heartfelt celebration of resilience, community and the small businesses that make this city so vibrant.

We're excited to be back on April 16th with another Queer Magic! Brought to you by House Of Our Queer and TACT, the Trans Advocacy & Care Team, this community gathering aims to bring queer and trans people together to dance, laugh, give our $$ to QTBIPOC vendors, and stir up magic together as a spiritual practice.
DJ SETS BY LIZ VIDENDA and DREAMS Tarot and astrological insights/offerings by @HouseOfOurQueer, a QTBIPOC-Centered playspace for affirmations and spiritual guidance. This event is a fundraiser, so a portion of our proceeds are donated to TACT, the Trans Advocacy & Care Team, an east-bay based non-profit initiative that champions the well-being of trans and non-binary folks. Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination is required for entry into the venue. (No negative tests accepted or refunds for unvaxxed folks). Everyone in the party must be 21+ with a valid ID. Refunds must be requested at least 24 hours prior to the event. Refunds only given for extenuating circumstances. Some tickets will be sold at the door ($20 each—Cash or Venmo) but availability is subject to capacity.
Your advance ticket guarantees that you can skip the line into the event until 6pm. After that time we will be selling tickets at the door until the venue is at capacity. Your ticket will be valid for the entire duration of the event, but you may have to wait in line until other attendees leave.
The dance floor and seating is outdoor and compliant with Oakland and Alameda County COVID-19 safety guidelines. A mask must be worn at all times indoors when not actively eating or drinking. Anyone not following the safety protocol set by Temescal Brewing will be asked to leave with no refund.

School of The Getdown welcomes you for an evening of culture and community celebrating the best of Black Music in Oakland from jazz to blues to hip-hop to R&B and more. This event is all ages and free to the community with advance reservations. Join us at the historic Continental Club, opened in 1945 in West Oakland, where artists like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Little Richard, Marvin Gaye, B.B. King, Otis Redding, Richard Pryor, and Jimmy McCracklin once held court. Recently remodeled and reopened, this historic center for Black culture features a full bar and soul food menu. COVID-19 POLICY: In the interest of providing the best possible health and safety conditions for our community, all attendees are required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Based on current CDC guidelines, all participants must wear masks regardless of vaccination status. Performers may remove masks while actively performing, providing they maximize physical distancing. We kindly request that anyone feeling unwell refrain from attending.
