Now that we’re in the peak of summer, we have a few months before we hit another change in weather. Typically, our winter months flood community shelters and charities with items that will help hold over those in need through the winter. But, houselessness doesn't take a summer break, and different necessities are needed more than ever. From sunblock to umbrellas, there’s an abundance of household items that we all may have that could be utilized more in the hands of those who need them. We will go over clothing items, household items, and toys that are great for donating to local shelters for the summertime.
Clothing items such as socks, under garments, tank tops, shorts, flip flops, tennis shoes, and accessories like hats and sunglasses are great items to purge and donate.
Non-clothing items to consider are sunblock, umbrellas, bottled water, aloe, insect repellent, handheld fans, and hygiene products!
Children’s toys. Whether it’s water guns, bubble, books, or puzzles, most of the children in our communities are out for summer break and they should have items to enjoy while also taking on the heat!
