Accountant/Office Administrator
$85K-95K + Benefits – Salary commensurate with experience.

The Accountant/Office Admin will perform all aspects of professional accounting work (GAAP); this includes invoicing, Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, updating records, verifying reports, and preparing financial and statistical information and spreadsheets. This position will also perform day-to-day tasks and office duties including preparing emails for company staff, ordering office supplies, assisting with requests from members and consultants. The position is 65% accounting focused and 35% office administration.
Typical Job Duties Include:
Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts related to postings from payroll, accounts payable, cash receipts, and accounts receivable.
Prepares a wide variety of financial and statistical reports, year-end reporting, monthly reports, and preparing other documents and management analysis.
Receives, reviews, verifies, and processes time recording documents to prepare payroll for employees; audits documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with GAAP rules and regulations; prepares and balances payroll reports and records.
Reviews and processes appropriation transfer requests between accounts; assists in reconciling bank statements to the general ledger.
Records and maintains appropriate controls over accounts payable. Assists in the coordination of the annual audits.
Assists with investments, portfolio management, cash management, debt management, and revenue and expense projections.
Receives and deposits monies received, allocates to the proper project.
Maintains and balances records for accrued leave.
Develops and maintains record keeping systems.
Assists with day-to day-operations; performs other duties as assigned and necessary.
Candidate will have Knowledge of:
Computer and software programs—Mac based office (e.g., Microsoft software packages including Outlook, Word, QuickBooks and Excel skills a must) and ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) and to compile, and/or generate documentation.
Modern principles, practices and methods of public accounting and financing, including project budgeting and auditing.
Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with vendors, consultants, staff and most importantly--our members!
Education & Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Four-year degree in accounting, finance or a closely related field and 5+ years of practical accounting experience.
CPA desired, but not necessary.
